Saur maas or Solar month in Astrology

Saur maas or Solar month in Astrology: -

The time period that Sun takes in transiting through one zodiac sign is termed as Solar Month (Saur Maas) in Indian Vedic Astrology or Jyotish which is around 30 days.

A solar month refers to a period of time based on the movement of the Sun through the zodiac signs in the tropical zodiac system. In this system, the Sun takes approximately one month to transit through each of the twelve zodiac signs.

The duration of a solar month is not precisely 30 or 31 days like the months in the Gregorian calendar. It can vary slightly depending on the specific position of the Sun and the length of each zodiac sign. On average, a solar month is considered to be around 30.44 days.

The solar month begins when the Sun enters a new zodiac sign, and it ends when the Sun moves into the next zodiac sign. For example, if the Sun enters Aries on March 21st, the solar month of Aries begins, and it continues until the Sun enters Taurus, which would be approximately on April 20th.

Each zodiac sign represents certain qualities, characteristics, and energies, and the movement of the Sun through these signs is believed to influence various aspects of life and individual experiences. Astrologers analyze the position of the Sun in the birth chart to gain insights into a person's core identity, ego, vitality, and self-expression.

It's worth noting that the concept of a solar month is specific to the tropical zodiac system, which is widely used in Western astrology. In other astrological systems, such as the sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology, the duration of a month or the interpretation of planetary movements may differ.
